How we know

It hasn't been reposted, listed twice, or left up unusually long, and the posting doesn't say it's a talent pool.

Ghostless records the day it first sees a posting, so a repost can't reset its age. This one was already up when Ghostless started tracking Simon Property Group, so its true age is longer.

“· Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.” (quoted from the posting)

What the posting discloses

Not stated: Pay, real vacancy, AI screening.

Why these three

Ontario requires postings from employers with 25 or more staff to state the pay, whether the vacancy exists, and whether AI screens applicants.

Some employers add pay only on their own site. Check the original posting before you rule it out.

Simon Property Group is seeking an SRE / Observability Engineer to design, implement, and enhance enterprise monitoring, observability, reliability, and automation capabilities. This role partners with infrastructure, cloud, network, application, security, and operations teams to provide clear visibility into service health, proactively identify risks, accelerate incident resolution, and reduce repetitive operational work.

Primary Responsibilities

· Design, implement, and support enterprise observability, monitoring, telemetry, event management, alerting, and service health capabilities across on-premises, cloud, network, application, database, endpoint, and third-party environments.

· Establish standards for metrics, logs, traces, synthetic monitoring, dashboards, alert severity, thresholds, ownership, routing, escalation, and response.

· Partner with service owners to identify critical dependencies, address monitoring gaps, define service-level indicators and objectives, and strengthen operational readiness.

· Develop dashboards, reports, and reliability scorecards that communicate availability, performance, capacity, risk, and customer impact to technical and nontechnical audiences.

· Improve alert quality and reduce operational noise through tuning, correlation, suppression, automation, and reusable monitoring patterns.

· Develop automation using PowerShell, Python, APIs, infrastructure as code, and related technologies to streamline telemetry deployment, incident triage, remediation, reporting, validation, and platform administration.

· Provide advanced support during major incidents by using telemetry and dependency data to accelerate diagnosis and service restoration, and translate post-incident findings into corrective actions.

· Analyze capacity, performance, resilience, and recurring failure patterns, and recommend improvements to architecture, redundancy, recovery, deployment, and monitoring practices.

· Participate in architecture and production-readiness reviews to ensure services have appropriate telemetry, alerts, ownership, runbooks, escalation paths, capacity plans, and recovery procedures.

· Serve as a subject matter expert by maintaining standards and documentation, training teams, and providing technical guidance on observability and reliability practices.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Five or more years of progressive experience in site reliability engineering, observability, infrastructure, cloud, systems, DevOps, platform engineering, or a related discipline.

· Hands-on experience with enterprise monitoring, observability, event management, logging, or application performance monitoring platforms.

· Experience designing dashboards, alerts, telemetry integrations, monitoring standards, and service health reporting for production technology environments.

· Experience with PowerShell, Python, APIs, infrastructure as code, or comparable automation technologies, along with a working knowledge of metrics, logs, traces, events, and distributed systems troubleshooting.

· Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with tools such as LogicMonitor, Dynatrace, Datadog, Splunk, New Relic, Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or comparable technologies.

· Experience with Microsoft Azure, VMware, Windows Server, Linux, enterprise storage, backup, networking, or hybrid infrastructure.

· Experience integrating observability platforms with ServiceNow or another enterprise IT service management platform.

· Experience with automated remediation, event correlation, service discovery, monitoring as code, service-level objectives, and reliability reporting.

· Knowledge of ITIL, incident and problem management, change management, disaster recovery, and operational readiness practices; relevant technical certifications are preferred.
