How we know

It hasn't been reposted, listed twice, or left up unusually long, and the posting doesn't say it's a talent pool.

Ghostless records the day it first sees a posting, so a repost can't reset its age.

Last checked Nov 4, 2026.

About the role

At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive.

The Business Travel team helps people who travel for work choose Lyft, and grows business travel as a line of business, one of Lyft’s growth priorities. Our customers include individual riders and the companies that offer Lyft as an employee benefit, so the work spans consumer and B2B products. Since launching Lyft Business Rewards in 2025, we’ve seen strong traction with business travelers. Next, we want to make Lyft the most rewarding and reliable way to travel for work.

The team includes back-end, web, iOS, and Android engineers and works closely with product management, design, and data science. Our work touches the core rider experience, so we partner closely with many teams across Lyft.

In this role you’ll lead the team and its roadmap. You’ll own planning and delivery with your PM partner, guide technical direction through design reviews, and coach engineers. We’re looking for an engineering manager with a solid software background and experience leading engineers, who has shipped consumer or B2B2C products alongside product, design, and data partners. You can build trust with a team quickly, set a clear rhythm for planning and communication, and grow engineers into future tech leads.

Responsibilities

  • Drive team execution by resolving blockers, mediating decision-making, and navigating ambiguity to keep the team moving with clarity and momentum
  • Maintain operational excellence by implementing and upholding best practices for observability, reliability, and on-call processes
  • Partner with cross-functional teams — Product, Marketing, Science, and Analytics — to define the team's strategic direction and roadmap
  • Ensure technical excellence through architecture reviews, proactive tech debt management, and hands-on engineering guidance
  • Maintain team health by creating and refining team processes, fostering a supportive and inclusive culture, and managing resourcing needs
  • Develop team member careers by matching them with the right opportunities, setting clear expectations, and delivering timely and actionable feedback
  • Build relationships across engineering teams to share learnings, align on standards, and identify collaboration opportunities
  • Translate business goals into clear engineering plans, helping the team understand the "why" behind their work and stay motivated by impact
  • Identify and address underperformance early, while consistently recognizing individual strengths and contributions
  • Contribute to hiring by partnering with recruiting, conducting interviews, and helping define and uphold the team's engineering bar

Experience

  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • At least 5 years of software development experience, with enough technical depth to engage credibly in architecture and design discussions
  • At least 3 years of people management experience, with a demonstrated ability to grow engineers and build cohesive teams
  • Proven track record of delivering projects end-to-end in a fast-paced environment, balancing speed with quality and sustainability
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills — comfortable working alongside Product, Design, Science, and Analytics to align on priorities and drive shared outcomes
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity, decompose complex problems, and bring structure and clarity to the team
  • Experience managing a diverse set of engineering roles — backend, web, mobile, and/or data — is a plus
  • Experience working on a growth-focused team or org (incentives, messaging, ads) is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the team clearly to senior stakeholders and advocate effectively for resourcing and prioritization

Benefits

  • Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options with additional programs available when enrolled
  • Mental health benefits
  • Family building benefits
  • Child care and pet benefits
  • 401(k) plan with company match to help save for your future
  • In addition to 12 observed holidays, salaried team members have discretionary paid time off, hourly team members have 15 days paid time off
  • 18 weeks of paid parental leave. Biological, adoptive, and foster parents are all eligible
  • Subsidized commuter benefits
  • Monthly Lyft credits and complimentary Lyft Pink membership
