How we know

It hasn't been reposted, listed twice, or left up unusually long, and the posting doesn't say it's a talent pool.

Ghostless records the day it first sees a posting, so a repost can't reset its age.

Last checked Nov 4, 2026.

Job Description

Our vision to be the Better Bank means we’re always looking for better ways to do things. Global Technology & Solutions (GTS) colleagues collaborate on critical initiatives for the Bank to provide secure and stable operations, build new capabilities, and deliver seamlessly for our customers and colleagues.

GTS Data Governance leads the consistent implementation of data governance requirements and controls across GTS. The team coordinates with GTS sub-organizations, the Enterprise Data Management Office (EDMO), control partners and subject matter experts to translate enterprise direction into practical, sustainable business outcomes. The team provides data risk oversight and helps ensure GTS activities remain within TD Bank's risk appetite, meet enterprise requirements, and support regulatory expectations.

Job Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Manager, GTS Data Governance, the GTS Data Steward is a senior individual contributor with no direct reports. The role leads GTS’ execution of enterprise data governance requirements by providing subject matter expertise, oversight, constructive challenge and decision support. Success requires the ability to align stakeholders without direct authority, simplify complex requirements and drive measurable outcomes.

  • Serve as an appointed GTS Data Steward in accordance with the Enterprise Data Policy, EDM Standard, related standards and the GTS data strategy.
  • Lead governance across the data lifecycle, including critical data, metadata, data quality, lineage, authorized use, retention and disposition, and data concern/issue management.
  • Establish clear data accountabilities and engage Data Owners, Data Stewards, Business Asset Owners, Technology Asset Owners and subject matter experts.
  • Translate enterprise requirements and strategic priorities into practical controls, operating routines and delivery plans with measurable outcomes, owners, dependencies and milestones.
  • Maintain an integrated view of GTS data governance priorities, risks and interdependencies, coordinating execution and sustainable adoption across businesses and functions.
  • Assess data risks and control gaps and provide governance, ensuring material concerns have accountable owners, remediation plans and evidence of closure.
  • Monitor progress and control effectiveness, resolve barriers and escalate material risks with clear analysis, options and recommendations.
  • Support audit and regulatory readiness through clear procedures, records and traceable evidence, and advise leaders on emerging data, technology and regulatory risks.
  • Prepare executive briefings, governance materials and reporting that clearly communicate outcomes, decisions, risks, dependencies and required actions.
  • Translate complex data governance, risk and technology concepts into practical business language and provide guidance on policies, tools and expected practices.
  • Build trusted partnerships across business, control and technology teams, navigating conflict and ambiguity with sound judgement, transparency and discretion.

Job Requirements

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in data governance, data management, risk, controls, compliance, audit or a related field.
  • Undergraduate degree, relevant technical certificate and/or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance and data risk practices, including data quality, ownership, metadata, lineage, critical data, retention and disposition, controls and issue management.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret enterprise requirements and convert them into practical controls, operating processes and measurable outcomes.
  • Proven ability to influence executives and cross-functional teams, manage conflict and deliver shared outcomes without direct authority.
  • Strong program delivery skills, including planning, risk and dependency management, governance, executive reporting and sustained follow-through.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, strategic thinking, judgement and organization, with the ability to manage sensitive issues and competing priorities.
  • Experience in financial services, technology, regulatory remediation, enterprise data governance programs or governance forums.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and enterprise data management, governance or reporting tools.
