How we know

It hasn't been reposted, listed twice, or left up unusually long, and the posting doesn't say it's a talent pool.

Ghostless records the day it first sees a posting, so a repost can't reset its age. This one was already up when Ghostless started tracking Powerdot, so its true age is longer.

Last checked Nov 2, 2026.

What the posting discloses

Not stated: Pay, real vacancy, AI screening.

Why these three

Ontario requires postings from employers with 25 or more staff to state the pay, whether the vacancy exists, and whether AI screens applicants.

Some employers add pay only on their own site. Check the original posting before you rule it out.

About the role

About the job

Charging your car should be as easy as charging your smartphone. And so for that to happen, chargers need to be available where people naturally spend their days.

Our mission is as simple as it is ambitious: Accelerate Sustainable Mobility by investing in, installing, and operating EV chargers with a cutting-edge business model. We help businesses find the right charging solutions for their customers. Today, we've partnered with over 1,200 businesses across Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Poland, with more than 2,200 contracted locations.

We are, first, Partner Obsessed 🀝 β€” creating bespoke solutions to better serve our partners' customers. We love the challenge of making EV charging simpler, readily available, and integrated with diverse retail and service experiences πŸ’‘. And we are all about growing πŸ“ˆ β€” expanding our network, our partners' businesses, and the professional development of our team, all while driving the EV ecosystem forward.

We seek empowered top performers who share our mission and values, and who are ready to think disruptively and join our exciting journey.

πŸš€ About this Role

As a Senior Backend Engineer at Powerdot, you'll play a crucial role in designing, developing, and deploying high-performance, scalable backend services that form the backbone of our EV charging platform. Your mission is to build and maintain systems that are reliable, secure, and performant enough to support our rapid growth across Europe β€” ensuring every service scales seamlessly as we expand. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you'll translate business needs into robust technical solutions that keep our network running 24/7.

How You'll Shape Our Story

Your day-to-day will include

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams β€” understanding their requirements and ensuring backend services meet the needs of the business and our partners.
  • Designing and developing microservices architectures β€” using Java and Spring Boot to build modular, scalable, and maintainable services.
  • Implementing AWS services β€” leveraging EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS to ensure scalable, efficient, and cost-effective operations.
  • Creating and optimizing database systems β€” designing both relational and non-relational databases, ensuring data integrity, performance, and reliability.
  • Working with messaging systems β€” using RabbitMQ and Kafka for seamless, resilient inter-service communication.
  • Utilizing containerization and orchestration β€” employing Docker and Kubernetes to streamline development, deployment, and scaling processes.
  • Maintaining high standards of code quality β€” following best practices around reliability, security, and testability, and upholding rigorous engineering standards.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship β€” supporting junior engineers through code reviews, pairing sessions, and knowledge sharing.

This Is About You, Not Us 🫡🏼

  • Strong experience in microservices architectures β€” you've designed, built, and deployed production-grade microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Proficient with AWS services β€” hands-on experience with EC2, S3, Lambda, and RDS in production environments.
  • Deep understanding of database systems β€” skilled in database design, optimization, and performance tuning across both relational and non-relational databases.
  • Familiarity with messaging systems β€” practical experience with RabbitMQ and Kafka for asynchronous, event-driven architectures.
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration β€” comfortable with Docker and Kubernetes in development and production workflows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills β€” you break down complex technical challenges and drive them to resolution, independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills β€” you collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and can convey technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in the EV charging industry is a plus but not required.

The Kind of Energy We're Looking For

  • We're not into titles, egos, or corporate buzzwords. We're into people who make things happen.
  • You lead and listen. Whether steering initiatives or supporting teammates, you bring others with you and keep communication wide open.
  • You own your stuff. You don't wait for instructions: you see an opportunity, grab it, and make it better than anyone expected.
  • You've got a green heartbeat. Sustainability isn't just cool, it's core. You care about doing work that leaves the world a little better than you found it.
  • You balance hustle with humanity. You love the buzz of in-person teamwork, but you also know when to recharge (pun totally intended πŸ”‹).
  • You grow on purpose. You're hungry to learn, to stretch, and to build something meaningful, not just rack up LinkedIn bullet points.

How you'll be Powered up?

  • πŸ₯ Private health insurance coverage
  • πŸ’ͺ🏼 Gym membership to help you stay active
  • ⏰ Flexible working hours: you own your time
  • 🌍 Annual offsite to celebrate achievements and connect with colleagues
  • 🀝🏼 Regular team-building activities with your local team
  • πŸ“š English training β€” as English is our language used to connect with all markets and teams
  • 🍩 Free office snacks, unlimited coffee, and meal allowance for every worked day
  • ⚑️ Special discounts for charging your electric vehicle

Our Promise To You

The best solutions come from different voices. We're building a culture where inclusion, respect, and equal opportunity aren't policies β€” they're lived every day. At Powerdot, everyone has the space to speak up, challenge the status quo, and make a difference. Your voice powers the future β€” literally.
