How we know

It hasn't been reposted, listed twice, or left up unusually long, and the posting doesn't say it's a talent pool.

Ghostless records the day it first sees a posting, so a repost can't reset its age. This one was already up when Ghostless started tracking Sagecare, so its true age is longer.

Last checked Nov 4, 2026.

About the role

About Sage Care

Sage Care is a fast-growing, early-stage healthcare startup founded by exceptional leaders from Apple, Uber, Carbon Health and backed by top-tier venture capital (General Catalyst, Chelsea Clinton). With a strong customer pipeline, Sage Care is transforming healthcare by simplifying care navigation.

Our platform makes it easier for patients to find the right doctor and helps providers focus on those who need them most through harnessing the latest AI innovations.

Building on our successful collaborations with health systems across the U.S., we have expanded internationally to the MENA region. We are now partnering with health systems there to deploy our AI-powered care navigation platform.

About the Role

A core part of our product is integrating with healthcare partners through Epic to read and write critical data—including provider information, patient identity and demographics, scheduling (slots, appointments, cancellations), referrals, patient charts and history, and clinical workflows. These integrations power key products such as Provider Matching, Scheduling, Referral Recommendations, and AI voice agents .

As an Epic Integration Engineer , you will own each partner integration from discovery through production: scoping APIs and interfaces with hospital IT and Epic teams, implementing and validating the integration against our internal interfaces, launching it, and troubleshooting it in production. You will work closely with healthcare partners, product, backend engineers, and AI/ML teams.

This role sits at the intersection of healthcare data, integration engineering, AI/ML, and partner management . We’re looking for someone with deep hands-on experience integrating with Epic as a third party, who can creatively navigate integration challenges and help build scalable API integration solutions. You should also be comfortable working directly with clients to understand their workflows, drive projects toward launch, and build strong, trusted relationships.

What You'll Do

Build and own Epic and other EHR integrations

  • Identify the right Epic APIs and interfaces (FHIR, HL7v2, proprietary Epic APIs) to read and write data based on product needs.
  • Design each partner’s integration around their specific Epic setup, configuration, and access model.
  • Implement, validate (including data validation against the partner’s live environment), and launch each integration.
  • Own production troubleshooting for live integrations.
  • Feed what you learn back into our shared integration interfaces, so each new partner is faster to onboard.
  • [removed: “Create an overarching framework to unify these integrations” and “Enable scaling of this integration infrastructure across all healthcare partners”]

Build relationships with partners

  • Work directly with hospital IT, Epic analysts, and Epic Technical Services to define requirements, resolve configuration and access issues, and validate data.
  • Drive the integration effort to launch.
  • Act as the ongoing technical point of contact to maintain integrations long term.

What We're Looking For

Required

  • 5+ years of Software engineering experience.
  • Has personally taken Epic integrations from discovery through production repeatedly, ideally 10+ implementations across multiple health systems, as a third-party vendor.
  • Deep knowledge of Epic APIs, FHIR and HL7v2, Epic data models and workflows, and how implementations differ between hospitals.
  • Experience working directly with hospital IT and Epic teams to define requirements, resolve configuration and access issues, and drive integrations to launch.
  • Experience working closely with partners in iterative fashion gathering feedback along the way.
  • Strong backend engineering skills and systems thinking.
  • Experience working with ambiguous problems and defining solutions from first principles.
  • Experience turning novel techniques into testable prototypes.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Epic scheduling APIs, patient search and matching, and writing back to the EHR.
  • Experience with other EHRs (Oracle Health/Cerner, MEDITECH, athenahealth).
  • Familiarity with Epic’s vendor programs (Open. Epic, Vendor Services, Showroom/Connection Hub) and the app activation process at a customer site.
  • Experience working on products that deal with reading referrals and patient data from EPIC.
  • Experience with medical AI systems.
  • Experience with extraction of text/data from PDFs and Images.

Example Things you’ve Done

  • Built extensible 3rd party integrations with EPIC for medical data across multiple partners.
  • Launched a scheduling or patient-facing integration at a health system, including getting through the hospital’s security, access, and app activation process.
  • Worked extensively with FHIR and HL7 interfaces.
  • Integrated with other EHR systems.
