How we know

It hasn't been reposted, listed twice, or left up unusually long, and the posting doesn't say it's a talent pool.

Ghostless records the day it first sees a posting, so a repost can't reset its age. This one was already up when Ghostless started tracking Kwetta, so its true age is longer.

Last checked Nov 4, 2026.

What the posting discloses

Not stated: Pay, real vacancy, AI screening.

Why these three

Ontario requires postings from employers with 25 or more staff to state the pay, whether the vacancy exists, and whether AI screens applicants.

Some employers add pay only on their own site. Check the original posting before you rule it out.

About the role

From CAD to creation. Build something real this summer.

Love the idea of taking an engineering design off your screen, into the workshop and all the way through to a working product?

At Kwetta, we're tackling one of the world's biggest electrification challenges. We're developing technology that unlocks the power of high-voltage grids to revolutionise EV charging, with our solutions already making an impact across New Zealand, Australia and Europe.

We're looking for a talented Mechatronics Engineering student who's just as comfortable getting their hands dirty as they are working through a design problem.

This isn't an internship where you'll sit on the sidelines. You'll own a real engineering project, from design through to commissioning.

Your summer challenge? Design, build and commission two Sky Hook testers that will be used to test our EV charging equipment before it heads to customer sites.

Sky Hook is the part of our charging system that connects to and charges the vehicle. Before these units go into the field, we need to know they've been built correctly and are ready to perform.

That's where you come in.

Working alongside our R&D and Operations teams, you'll

  • Get hands-on with our existing tester and identify opportunities to improve its design.
  • Develop the mechanical and electrical designs, including CAD models, drawings and schematics.
  • Select components and materials, balancing performance, cost and practicality.
  • Build and assemble two testers, integrating the mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Test, troubleshoot and commission both units, ensuring they're safe, reliable and ready for use.
  • Document your designs and hand over two working testers to the team.
  • By the end of summer, you'll have taken a complete mechatronics project from concept to reality, with two working pieces of equipment that Kwetta will continue using.

What We’re Looking For

We're after someone who loves engineering beyond the classroom and gets satisfaction from seeing something they've designed actually work.

You'll bring

  • Third- or fourth-year study in Mechatronics Engineering.
  • A solid foundation in mechanical and electrical engineering principles.
  • Experience using CAD and producing engineering drawings.
  • Practical confidence with building, wiring, assembling and testing.
  • A resourceful, problem-solving mindset and the judgement to know when to ask for guidance.
  • A team-first attitude, openness to feedback and the drive to finish what you start.

You don't need to have built something like this before. But you do need to enjoy getting stuck in, learning as you go and working through challenges until you've got something that works.

What You Get

  • A complete engineering project. Take ownership from initial design right through to commissioning.
  • Real hands-on experience. Get out from behind the screen and into the workshop, building and testing your own designs.
  • Freedom to learn and grow. Work alongside experienced engineers and technicians who'll share their knowledge while trusting you to make decisions.
  • Work that matters. Help ensure the quality of technology accelerating the world's transition to electrification.
  • A great team. Join smart, grounded people who share knowledge, challenge ideas and back each other.
  • Summer in Hawke's Bay. Beaches, sunshine, outdoor adventures and a lifestyle that's hard to beat.
