How we know

It hasn't been reposted, listed twice, or left up unusually long, and the posting doesn't say it's a talent pool.

Ghostless records the day it first sees a posting, so a repost can't reset its age. This one was already up when Ghostless started tracking Develop Health, so its true age is longer.

Last checked Nov 1, 2026.

Not stated: Real vacancy, AI screening.

Why these three

Ontario requires postings from employers with 25 or more staff to state the pay, whether the vacancy exists, and whether AI screens applicants.

About the role

Develop Health is on a mission to use AI to radically accelerate access to life-saving medications. By automating complex, manual healthcare processes—like benefit verification and prior authorization— we've been growing rapidly and over the past couple of years have helped over 3.6 million patients!

We’re partnering with some of the largest pharmacy benefit managers and payers in the nation, revolutionizing how healthcare interactions occur by eliminating human delays and inefficiencies. Our small, elite team of founders and engineers have previously launched and exited successful healthcare startups including Rupa Health and Canvas Medical. We are now scaling rapidly following a major funding round.

About The Role

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who wants to build AI products that do real work in healthcare. You'll take an idea from a conversation with the people who'll use it to a feature running in production, across the experience, the services behind it, and the AI that powers it. You'll work closely with our product, AI, and operations teams, and you'll see the impact of what you ship.

Some of the problems you'd own

  • AI that meets prescribers where they are. You'll build the AI that reads clinical notes, works through insurance rules, and moves each request toward a decision, right inside the tools prescribers already use.
  • Workflows where AI and people work side by side. Requests move between agents, our operations team, prescribers, and insurers over days or weeks. You'll design and own the state machines that coordinate it all.
  • Making sure nothing gets lost on the way to the insurer. Hundreds of insurance plans, incomplete patient data, and a patient waiting on the other end. You'll own the system that gets every request to the right place, from the AI behind the scenes to what prescribers see .
  • Fast, AI-assisted development that stays reliable. We ship quickly with coding agents. You'll enhance the automated QA, deploy safeguards, and PR review that keep quality up as we go faster.

This is a hybrid role, with 3 days per week onsite in either Menlo Park or San Francisco.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 5 years building and shipping production software. You're strong at architecting systems and making the right technical decisions across the full stack, and it's a bonus if you love the frontend.
  • You figure out what the user actually needs before you start building, and you speak up early when scope starts to drift.
  • You're curious about how things really work, from the healthcare rules behind a request to the system that handles it, and you ask why before you build.
  • You reach for the simplest design that works and can explain why, including when it's time to add more.
  • You work with coding agents every day and hold their code to the same bar as your own.
  • You make the team around you better, whether that's fixing a broken process or helping a teammate get unstuck.
  • You own your work through rollout and check whether it did what it was supposed to do.

You Don't Need

Healthcare experience. We'll teach you the domain. You also don't need a PM background, experience building for planet-scale traffic, or management experience.

How We Work

We start simple and add complexity when we have a reason to. We care a lot about getting things right, because a dropped request here means a patient waits longer for their medication, and we handle protected health information every day. Engineers own their work from the first customer conversation through launch and after. The people who do well here push hard, take feedback well, and ask a lot of questions.

What We Offer

  • 150K–220K base plus meaningful early-stage equity
  • Medical, dental, and vision. We pay 100% of your premiums and 50% for dependents
  • 401(k) with a 4% match
  • Up to 12 weeks of fully paid parental leave, starting from your first day
  • Flexible PTO and all major holidays
  • A high-end workstation and budget for the AI tools you want to use
  • A $5K relocation bonus

Visa sponsorship will be considered on a case-by-case basis. As an early-stage company, our ability to provide immigration support depends on the role, applicable immigration requirements, anticipated costs, and timing. Support is subject to review by immigration counsel and company approval. At this time we do not support new H1-B visas for candidates outside the United States.

Interviewing With Us

There are three steps: a recruiter call, an engineering skills screen built around a realistic problem instead of trivia, and an onsite at one of our Bay Area offices. The whole process usually takes about two weeks, and we'll get back to you within a day after each step.

Develop Health is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applicants of every background.
