How we know

It hasn't been reposted, listed twice, or left up unusually long, and the posting doesn't say it's a talent pool.

Ghostless records the day it first sees a posting, so a repost can't reset its age. This one was already up when Ghostless started tracking Open Vision Engineering, so its true age is longer.

Last checked Nov 4, 2026.

About the role

About Pocket

At Pocket, we’re building the future of human memory.

Some of the most valuable information in our lives disappears when a conversation ends: an idea, a decision, a detail we wish we could remember. Pocket helps us hold onto it.

We’ve built an AI-powered device that captures real-world conversations and turns them into searchable transcripts, summaries and next steps. Backed by Accel and Y Combinator (W26), we’ve already sold 500,000 devices.

Our ambition goes beyond recording. We believe the things you learn, discuss and experience can become useful context for the AI tools you already use, and for products that don’t exist yet.

About the Role

When someone presses record, they need the device to work. That means capturing audio reliably, keeping files safe and getting recordings to their phone even when connections or operating conditions are imperfect.

You’ll work on the firmware behind that experience. This role is for someone who wants to follow a problem all the way through: from a customer-visible symptom to the driver, peripheral or hardware behavior underneath it, then back to a fix tested on a real device.

What You’ll Own

  • Investigating and fixing embedded-device issues across firmware, peripherals and host connections.
  • Reliable recording, storage and transfer behavior, including disconnects, retries and partial transfers.
  • Working across hardware and app boundaries to reproduce failures and verify fixes.
  • Maintainable firmware, useful tests and debugging practices grounded in real hardware.
  • Clear communication of tradeoffs, findings and remaining risks to the people working on adjacent parts of the product.

What We’re Looking For

  • The ability to read schematics and datasheets, bring up peripherals and trace a problem across system layers.
  • Understanding of Bluetooth/BLE, USB or Wi-Fi device-to-host communication, or the ability to learn it quickly.
  • Good Git habits, maintainable code and tests that catch failures on real devices.
  • Ownership of difficult, intermittent issues and clear communication across teams.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.

We are open to any experience level. There is no minimum number of years: show us what you have built and how you approach embedded problems.

Bonus Points

  • Audio-device firmware, microphone/ADC signal paths, I²S/PDM, codecs and measurement of audio-quality tradeoffs.
  • Zephyr or another RTOS, ARM Cortex-M, Actions Semiconductor platforms, vendor SDKs or DSP components.
  • Flash/SD storage, FAT or LittleFS, recording recovery and safe concurrent recording and sync.
  • Low-power electronics, bootloaders, signed updates, Python, CI or production test fixtures.
  • iOS/Android companion-app integration, BLE GATT, interoperability debugging, or taking devices through manufacturing and supporting them in the field.

Why Join Pocket?

You’ll solve problems that people can hear and feel in a product they use. The work sits where hardware, audio and mobile software meet, and a reliable fix matters well beyond a test bench.
