How we know

It hasn't been reposted, listed twice, or left up unusually long, and the posting doesn't say it's a talent pool.

Ghostless records the day it first sees a posting, so a repost can't reset its age.

Last checked Nov 4, 2026.

What it asks of you

3–5 years of experience
“3–5 years of experience in security analysis, data engineering, and anything in between.” (quoted from the posting)

What the posting discloses

Not stated: Pay, real vacancy, AI screening.

Why these three

Ontario requires postings from employers with 25 or more staff to state the pay, whether the vacancy exists, and whether AI screens applicants.

Some employers add pay only on their own site. Check the original posting before you rule it out.

About the role

As a Security Engineer on the Player Security team, you will help protect player accounts and Riot’s broader service ecosystem from attacks and abuse.

You will build analytical capabilities, develop data-driven detection methods, and investigate how threat actors operate across our systems. Working closely with engineering, data, and security teams, you will help improve existing services and create new solutions that provide millions of players with a safe and secure gaming experience.

This role is well suited to someone with experience in security engineering, data analysis, and building scalable data or event-driven pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze large datasets to understand attacker behavior and identify opportunities to strengthen our defenses.
  • Design and build tools and detection systems that identify malicious activity across Riot’s ecosystem.
  • Develop scalable, reliable data-driven and event-driven security services.
  • Collaborate with engineering, data, security, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute to technical design, architecture, and implementation decisions.
  • Improve existing security capabilities and help develop new approaches to protecting players.
  • Ideate, refine, and complete threat hunts to inform security controls.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in security analysis, data engineering, and anything in between.
  • Experience analyzing large datasets and working with data platforms such as Databricks.
  • Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience working in an agile software-development environment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with online multiplayer games and their associated account, platform, or abuse ecosystems.
  • Experience building data-driven or event-driven pipelines using one or more languages such as Go, Python, Java, or TypeScript.
  • Experience developing security detections or investigating attacker behavior.
  • Understanding of account security, fraud, abuse prevention, or threat detection.

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!
