How we know

It hasn't been reposted, listed twice, or left up unusually long, and the posting doesn't say it's a talent pool.

Ghostless records the day it first sees a posting, so a repost can't reset its age.

Last checked Nov 4, 2026.

What it asks of you

Equivalent experience accepted instead of a degree
“Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience” (quoted from the posting)

What the posting discloses

Not stated: Pay, real vacancy, AI screening.

Why these three

Ontario requires postings from employers with 25 or more staff to state the pay, whether the vacancy exists, and whether AI screens applicants.

Some employers add pay only on their own site. Check the original posting before you rule it out.

About the role

About PetroApp

PetroApp is a fleet management and fuel payments platform used by businesses across Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Thailand and Nigeria. We run high-volume transactions, multi-country operations, and integrations with fuel stations, payment gateways and enterprise customers. Our products range from fleet and spend control to wallets, payments and mobile apps.

The role

You’ll own backend services in one of our product areas from design to production. You’ll set the technical direction for your area and help raise the bar for the engineers around you. You’ll work closely with Product, Design and other engineering teams, and you may move between product areas as the business grows.

What you’ll do

-Design, build and scale backend services and APIs, following our API standards

-Own features end to end, from shaping requirements with Product to running them in production

-Design and optimize data models, queries and transactions, and use caching well, under real production load

-Build reliable integrations with external partners and third-party systems

-Deliver features across the stack, including Angular (TypeScript) frontends when needed

-Write design docs and ADRs, and drive technical decisions in your area

-Raise quality through code reviews, automated testing and observability

-Take part in on-call and incident response, and lead fixes to root causes

-Mentor engineers and help shape team practices

Requirements

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience, mostly backend
  • Deep expertise in at least one backend language and its ecosystem (e.g. PHP, Java, Go, Node.js, Python, C#), plus the ability to pick up new ones quickly
  • Strong grasp of backend fundamentals: API design, distributed systems, async processing and queues, and caching
  • Strong relational database experience (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL), including transactions, locking and concurrency
  • Experience building and running high-traffic or transaction-heavy systems in production
  • Working proficiency with a modern frontend framework, ideally Angular, Vue, and TypeScript
  • A track record of leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers
  • Clear written communication: design docs, PR descriptions, incident write-ups
  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
