How we know

It hasn't been reposted, listed twice, or left up unusually long, and the posting doesn't say it's a talent pool.

Ghostless records the day it first sees a posting, so a repost can't reset its age. This one was already up when Ghostless started tracking Rivet, so its true age is longer.

Last checked Nov 1, 2026.

About Rivet

Rivet is an American company building integrated task systems — fusing hardened hardware with software, sensors, AI, and networking — for industrial workforces and defense personnel. We create capabilities that multiply the effectiveness of every individual and withstand the world’s toughest environments.

We serve the people who build, operate, maintain, and defend our way of life. From technicians and engineers to first responders and service members, they embody the hard work, ingenuity, and meritocratic values that drive Western prosperity. Yet too often they are forced to rely on outdated tools that fail under modern pressures. Rivet exists to reset that priority.

At Rivet, you’ll join a mission-driven team that fuses disciplines to deliver decisive outcomes where they matter most. Whether shaping our technology, strengthening our partnerships, or building our culture, every role here contributes to equipping the front lines with the modern systems they deserve.

Work Authorization Requirement: Due to the nature of our business and compliance with federal regulations, all candidates must be a "U.S. Person". Upon hire, you will be required to provide documentation verifying your status as a U.S. Citizen, a lawful permanent resident, or a protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).

Summary

Rivet is looking for a hands-on Senior Software Engineer to own perceptual calibration for our next-generation AR wearables and devices running Android and embedded Linux. Accurate camera, IMU, and display calibration is what every tracking and display experience rests on: it keeps tracking stable, overlays registered to the real world, and rendering comfortable. This role spans calibration algorithms, calibration station and process design, and factory deployment, taking calibration from the lab bench to factory production lines. You will work closely with hardware, mechanical, robotics, perception, and manufacturing teams to deliver calibration that is accurate, repeatable, and efficient at production scale.

Responsibilities

  • Build computer vision and signal processing algorithms that calibrate the geometric intrinsics, extrinsics, and time offsets of cameras, IMUs, and XR displays.
  • Develop perceptual calibration processes for Rivet’s range of wearables and devices, covering calibration station design (sensor and target selection, metrology hardware requirements) and controlled data capture conditions.
  • Deploy data capture processes and calibration binaries to factory sites, working with contract manufacturers (CMs) through bring-up, ramp, and mass production.
  • Set factory calibration limits using Gage Repeatability & Reproducibility (GR&R) studies and Design of Experiments (DOE), and establish failure analysis processes backed by automated and agentic diagnosis and documented runbooks.
  • Reduce calibration cycle time through software profiling and refinement, additional or alternative station hardware, and process pipelining.
  • Develop tooling, visualization, and debugging workflows for end-to-end validation of perceptual calibration, including lab verification of factory calibration results.
  • Partner with hardware, mechanical, optical, and electrical engineering, robotics, perception, and manufacturing teams to set calibration requirements, design-for-calibration tolerances, and station specifications, and to deliver calibrated products end-to-end.

Requirements

  • Proven hands-on experience shipping camera, IMU, and/or display calibration solutions into production devices, from lab prototype through factory ramp.
  • Demonstrated hands-on ability to debug calibration failures, with a deep understanding of both the front-end perception (target detection, feature extraction, data association) and back-end optimization (sensor models, nonlinear least squares, observability) components of geometric calibration pipelines.
  • PhD + at least 3 years (or MS + at least 7 years) of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience with robot arms or motion stages for calibration data capture.
  • Strong background in multi-view geometry, camera and IMU sensor models, coordinate frames, nonlinear optimization, and statistics.
  • Proficient in C++ or Rust for performance-critical code, and in Python for analysis, automation, and tooling.
  • Experience developing on Android or embedded Linux devices.
  • Strong understanding of performance optimization, profiling, synchronization, and CPU/GPU/memory tradeoffs.
  • Ability to partner across hardware, mechanical, robotics, perception, and manufacturing teams, and with contract manufacturers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SLAM, visual-inertial odometry (VIO), or online calibration.
  • Experience calibrating XR displays (distortion, binocular alignment, display-to-camera extrinsics).
  • Experience building wearable, robotics, aerospace, defense, or embedded perception systems.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing test statistics (GR&R, DOE, SPC, Cpk) and high-volume factory bring-up.

Compensation may vary within the posted range based on relevant experience, skills, education, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for equity and other forms of compensation. Eligible employees also receive a competitive benefits package, including unlimited PTO.

Rivet is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to any characteristic protected by applicable law. Certain roles may require U.S. Person status, security clearance eligibility, or other requirements imposed by law or government contract.
