Our client is a manufacturing company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Build and maintain full-stack web software used in a production environment, keeping existing applications reliable while shipping new tools. Spend part of each week with shop-floor staff to understand their problems and check that what you build works in practice. Take responsibility for the uptime of the web platform when issues arise.

What you'll do

• Maintain and extend a customer-facing web application and ship new features.

• Build internal software that speeds up production workflows.

• Spend regular time on the shop floor gathering feedback from machinists and mechanical engineers.

• Define and solve operational problems without a complete written specification.

• Test finished tools with the people who use them and refine them based on their feedback.

• Keep the web platform running, including restoring service quickly when it goes down.

Requirements

What we're looking for

• Roughly one to three years of professional experience building browser and server software, with recent graduates welcome.

• Experience shipping rough prototypes to users and iterating on their feedback.

• Working knowledge of Node.js.

• Willingness to be on call and take ownership of production uptime.

• A sincere desire to learn how goods are made on the plant floor.

• Humility toward the expertise of skilled tradespeople.

Bonus points

• Co-op or internship experience.

• Prior work pairing code with hardware or mechanical equipment.

• Hobby hardware or electronics projects.
