How we know

It hasn't been reposted, listed twice, or left up unusually long, and the posting doesn't say it's a talent pool.

Ghostless records the day it first sees a posting, so a repost can't reset its age. This one was already up when Ghostless started tracking General Magic, so its true age is longer.

Last checked Nov 3, 2026.

$130K–$200K CAD base salary, depending on experience, plus equity (quoted from the posting)

Why these three

Ontario requires postings from employers with 25 or more staff to state the pay, whether the vacancy exists, and whether AI screens applicants.

About the role

Who we are

For decades, insurance software has been built around rigid forms, portals and call centers that create friction for customers and slow teams down. Even as AI has advanced, most insurance work remains manual and spread across disconnected systems.

General Magic builds AI agents that handle quoting, customer service, underwriting, follow-ups and broker communication, connected directly to carrier, MGA and broker systems. We've raised $7.2M USD from Radical Ventures, a16z and several AI leaders.

We reward people who thrive with high autonomy, love shipping quickly and want real ownership. We work onsite in Toronto five days a week.

The role

You'll work directly with insurance brokerages and carriers to turn complex, real-world workflows into working AI products, taking them from an initial customer conversation to production.

We're looking for a Forward Deployed Engineer who enjoys solving problems that don't come with clear instructions. You'll work closely with customers to understand how their businesses operate, build AI workflows around their needs and make sure those solutions work in production. We're a flat team where engineers own their work, challenge assumptions and help shape what gets built. You'll work directly with the founders and customers, taking ownership of everything from understanding the problem to delivering the solution.

In this role, you will

  • Work directly with brokers and carriers to understand their workflows, challenges and business requirements
  • Turn ambiguous customer requests into clear technical plans and working AI solutions
  • Build and deploy AI workflows using agents, APIs, tools and browser automation
  • Integrate our AI agents with customer systems, data sources and existing software
  • Own customer deployments from initial discovery through implementation, testing and production
  • Build evaluations, monitor performance and improve workflows based on real customer usage
  • Lead technical customer conversations, manage expectations and help customers adopt what you build
  • Work closely with our product and engineering teams to turn customer feedback into improvements across the platform

For this role, you should have

  • Strong programming fundamentals and experience building and shipping software
  • Experience building AI workflows using LLMs, agents, tools and APIs
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph or similar
  • Experience working with backend systems, integrations and production deployments
  • Ability to break down ambiguous problems and take ownership of solutions from start to finish
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working directly with non-technical customers
  • Experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex or similar
  • Willingness to learn quickly, work independently and take responsibility for customer outcomes

Experience in insurance or insurtech, building evaluation systems and fine-tuning models is a plus but not a core requirement.

Compensation and benefits

  • $130K–$200K CAD base salary, depending on experience, plus equity
  • Health and dental benefits
  • Wellness benefits
  • Dinner covered when working in the office past 7:30 PM
  • Expenses covered for conferences, tools and anything you need to do your job well
  • Direct ownership of AI solutions deployed to real customers
  • Work alongside experienced operators, engineers and founders who care deeply about what they build
