How we know

It hasn't been reposted, listed twice, or left up unusually long, and the posting doesn't say it's a talent pool.

Ghostless records the day it first sees a posting, so a repost can't reset its age.

Last checked Nov 4, 2026.

About the role

About the company

Our client is a financial services company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Design and build backend services for transaction processing and financial record-keeping, owning systems from architecture through production support. The work spans checkout flows, access controls, risk checks and reconciliation, with a focus on correctness and reliability.

What you'll do

  • Develop order-processing paths that carry a customer's request through to final confirmation across browser-based, protocol-based and direct API channels.
  • Design secure credential storage and access boundaries so sensitive data is never exposed to downstream callers.
  • Build permission, budget and approval logic, along with the user-facing tools used to configure and review it.
  • Build risk detection systems for account compromise and fraudulent counterparties.
  • Own reconciliation and ledger accuracy at high volume, including resolving ambiguous transaction outcomes such as timeouts.

Requirements

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of engineering experience at large-scale technology companies or a chartered bank or chartered trust, with a clear interest in joining a small, young company.
  • Has built a payment processor directly, not only integrated a third-party one.
  • Track record of running live backend systems independently from design through operation, including being on the hook for incidents.
  • Background in platform or infrastructure work, such as developer tools, distributed systems or payment integrations at fintech companies.
  • Designs for failure from the start, including timeouts, retries, idempotency and backpressure.
  • Working knowledge of TypeScript and Node.js.
  • Able to work on-site five days a week in San Francisco and uses AI tools day to day.

Bonus points

  • Prior work on card programs, payment card data security compliance, metered billing, fraud screening, or gateway and request-routing layers.
