How we know

It hasn't been reposted, listed twice, or left up unusually long, and the posting doesn't say it's a talent pool.

Ghostless records the day it first sees a posting, so a repost can't reset its age.

Last checked Nov 5, 2026.

About the role

Founded in 1999, Geneva Trading is a premier global principal trading firm with strategically located offices in Chicago, Dublin, and London. Our relentless focus on trading excellence combined with technological innovation has equipped us with a best-in-class proprietary trading platform, enabling us to compete at the highest levels in the global markets. Rooted in a culture of integrity, collaboration, and an unwavering passion for progress, we foster an environment of personal and professional excellence. Our nimble organizational structure and entrepreneurial spirit attract top-tier talent with a passion for innovation, laying the foundation and driving our consistent success in the industry.

Role Overview Geneva Trading is seeking a driven, mid-level Systems Engineer to join our Chicago Infrastructure team. In this role, you will be the backbone of our core Linux infrastructure, powering high-performance, low-latency trading strategies. You will play a pivotal role in modernizing our tech stack by driving cloud integration, container orchestration, and AI-assisted automation, ensuring our systems remain fast, scalable, and resilient.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Linux Systems Engineering: Administer, troubleshoot, and optimize production and development Linux servers (RHEL/Ubuntu) to guarantee maximum uptime, uncompromising stability, and strict security.
  • Cluster & Workload Orchestration: Deploy and manage distributed workload orchestration platforms. You will oversee scheduling, cluster networking, service discovery, and resource allocation—starting with HashiCorp Nomad or Docker Swarm, and scaling into Kubernetes.
  • Containerization & Application Delivery: Package, deploy, and scale microservices and proprietary trading applications using Docker and modern container runtimes across both bare-metal and cloud environments.
  • Hybrid Cloud Management: Architect and maintain cloud infrastructure in AWS and GCP, ensuring seamless and secure hybrid connectivity between our on-premises trading environments and public cloud resources.
  • AI-Driven Automation & Scripting: Write robust operational automation using Python and Bash. Leverage Claude Code and other advanced LLMs to accelerate development, troubleshoot complex issues, and build custom Claude Skills and agentic workflows that eliminate manual infrastructure toil.
  • Security Hardening & Maintenance: Execute proactive system maintenance, including kernel updates, OS patching, software deployments, and comprehensive security hardening.
  • Windows & Identity Support: Provide supplementary support for Windows server components, Active Directory, and user identity services.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Infrastructure, Networking, Cloud, and Trading teams to optimize system reliability. Participate in an on-call rotation and execute planned off-hours maintenance.

Required Qualifications

  • Linux Expertise: 3+ years of hands-on experience administering, configuring, and supporting enterprise Linux environments (RHEL/Ubuntu) in highly available production settings.
  • Containers & Orchestration: Strong practical experience with Docker and workload schedulers (e.g., HashiCorp Nomad, Docker Swarm, or Kubernetes), with the adaptability to manage current lightweight platforms while driving future Kubernetes adoption.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Proven track record of provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure in AWS or GCP.
  • AI & Agentic Automation: Hands-on experience coding and troubleshooting alongside Claude Code or modern LLMs, with a proven ability to write, build, and deploy custom AI-driven workflows and skills for IT operations.
  • Scripting & IaC: High proficiency in Bash and Python, coupled with practical experience using configuration management and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, or SaltStack.
  • System Internals: Deep understanding of Linux OS internals, low-latency networking concepts, TCP/IP, storage systems, and advanced system diagnostics.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hybrid Architecture: Experience designing hybrid networks that bridge low-latency, on-premises trading infrastructure with AWS/GCP cloud environments.
  • Windows Administration: Working knowledge of Windows Server administration, Active Directory, Group Policy (GPO), and DNS/DHCP.
  • PowerShell: Practical experience writing PowerShell scripts for Windows automation.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: $150,000 - $180,000, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience, education, and qualifications. In addition to base salary, Geneva Trading offers a competitive total rewards package, including a comprehensive benefits program. Learn more about our employee incentives here .
